Homeschool Day Class – Marine Birds
Full payment is due upon booking. There are no refunds for any programs unless we must cancel the program. If you need to cancel your reservation and you do so more than 24 hours in advance of the program date, we will hold your payment as credit for a future program as long as it is within that school year.
Tuesday – February 16th at Ripley’s Aquarium at the Smokies – Homeschool Day Class – Marine Birds: This is an introduction to marine birds such as penguins, albatross, puffins and more.
Maple Syrup Making and Pancake Breakfast at Tipton-Haynes
The event will be from 8:30am till 3pm. A pancake breakfast will be from 8:30am till 10:30am. The breakfast will cost $5 for an adult and $2 for children 12 and under. If you are a member or become a member then your breakfast is free.
Saturday – February 13th from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm – Maple Syrup Making and Pancake Breakfast at Tipton-Haynes. Eat your share of pancakes and then watch the complete process of how maple syrup is made. Come and explore the historic buildings and cave. There will also be open hearth cooking in the historic cabin that visitors can taste.The breakfast is just through 10:30 am and is $5.00 per adult and $2.00 per child under 12.

Everyone is invited to celebrate Family Fun Day with the Knoxville Museum of Art on Saturday, Feb 20, 2016, from 11 am to 3 pm. Family Fun Day is jammed packed with fun art activities for the kids, artist demonstrations, continuous entertainment on stage, docents in the galleries to talk with guests about the current exhibitions, and fantastic art-making activities inspired by museum’s current exhibitions.

Workshop Celebrate National Engineering Week with a workshop that will test your craftsmanship, skill, and ingenuity.
Wednesday – February 24th – 9:30 to 12:00 Hand’s On Museum – Imagineer It! Workshop – Celebrate National Engineering Week with a workshop that will test your craftsmanship, skill, and ingenuity. Assemble a miniature hovercraft, build your own table-sized, self-supporting bridge and create your own 2-liter bottle rocket launcher. A healthy snack is included. Cost $12 for members, $15 for non-members. Ages 7-13. Payment is required with registration by Tuesday, February 16th.
Bay’s Mountain Planetarium and Nature Events

Tuesday – February 2nd from 4:00 to 5:00 pm (Other showings available) “The Transit of Mercury – Featuring ‘Solar Quest'” boasts a unique format for us. The show highlights a live, interactive presentation about the smallest planet, Mercury, and its special transit across the Sun on May 9, 2016. But, we’ll also include a special presentation about the Sun prepared by the Buhl Planetarium in Pittsburgh, PA. And to top it all off, we’ll also include a brief tour of the current night sky! We think you’ll really enjoy it. The show is best for grades 3 and above though young visitors should still enjoy the program.
Tuesday – February 23rd from 3:00 to 4:00 pm – “Raptor Tour” – Enjoy an introduction to our resident birds of prey.
Sycamore Shoals – Winter Militia Muster at Fort Watauga
Saturday, February 6 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm – Winter Militia Muster at Fort Watauga: Visit Fort Watauga and step into a colorful Revolutionary world. Reenactors portray a variety of characters, from hunters and farmers to land speculators and backcountry gentry. Walk among colonists and native people who share their past through talks, mini-dramas, and demonstrations of 18th-century life.
Downtown Bristol – Art In Public Places Scavenger Hunt
This one is a bit weather dependent.
The Caterpillar Crawl is a fun-filled scavenger hunt for the entire family! Participants will follow clues which will lead them to State Street in order to discover the permanent bronze statues, created with care by local artist Val Lyle.

Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park – 50K Tree Plant
Davy Crockett was a pioneer, soldier, politician and industrialist. He was born near the town of Limestone, Tenn. in 1786. Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park commemorates the birthplace of this famous Tennessean. In 1817, he moved to Lawrence County.
Saturday – February 27th at 11:00 am – Join rain or shine for a 50K tree planting initiative all across the state by all state parks. We will plant as many as we can here at our park. Please meet at the visitors center at 11:00 AM. Tools will be provided. For more information please contact the visitor’s center at 423-257-2167.
Knoxville Zoo – BUY ONE GET ONE FREE
While several exhibits are closed there is still a lot to do and tons to learn! Now through Feb. 29th, 2016 the zoo is offering Buy One Get One Free ticket.
