Visit The Key West Butterfly Conservatory
Great Cruise Shore Excursion
For our 7th anniversary, Mr. Wonderful and I cruised through the Caribbean. We experienced a lot of beautiful moments but one of my favorites was our stop at the Butterfly Conservatory in Key West. We love to cruise and we learned early on that planning excursions is the best way to make the most out of your shore time. It also tends to assure that you make it back to the boat on time and don’t risk being left behind. So we are a fan of excursions.

Meet the Banded Peacock Butterfly!
The Shore Excursion to The Key West Butterfly Conservatory was awesome!
Imagine this… You are walking through this lovely glass atrium. Exotic birds peek at you from lush flora.
Plump baby Japanese Quails wander between your feet as you make your way along a brick path.
And floating through the air around you are hundreds of beautiful butterflies. It is magic in the Key West Butterfly Conservatory.
Rhett and Scarlett
Plus, they have Flamingo’s guys! And their names are Rhett and Scarlett.
Key West Butterfly Conservatory has over twenty species of exotic birds! Not to be outdone, the butterflies surround you in abundance. There are fifty to sixty butterfly species in the atrium. The atrium contains a garden with 1200 butterflies floating around you. It is truly magical!
So many butterflies…
Did you know a chrysalis can be sent by mail in a standard envelope?
Sure enough! You will have the opportunity to see species from all over the planet, and some arrived via the mail. Who knew?
You can learn so much while visiting! The tour is very interesting and informative. The best part though is the magical feeling inside the atrium as the butterflies coast gently by you or land on you. The plump little quail scurry around your feet and the birds sing all around you. As if that isn’t enough, there are also gorgeous plants and flowers everywhere. Like these orchids.
