I have fall fever and that has me thinking about how to get the most out of the season when it finally arrives. So, I have collected all of my favorite fall date ideas right here so we can all enjoy every last brisk and bright second of it. Open your calendar, lovebirds!

A Trip to the Apple Orchard
I adore a trip to the Apple Orchard. Here in East Tennessee, two of our three favorite orchards are located off the Blue Ridge Parkway so the drive alone is worth every second of a Saturday. But the actual picking of the apples is a really fun way to spend time together.
Alta Pass Orchard has a little shop where you can play checkers while eating homemade fudge or enjoying ice cream which in my opinion makes for a fantastic fall date idea. And Apple Hill Orchard in Morgantown has a cider mill so you grab a fresh apple cider cold, a cider slushie, or hot spiced apple cider to take with you for a walk among the trees. Yes, please!
Carve Pumpkins Together
Nothing says romantic like scooping the slimy guts out of a pumpkin! Seriously, if you are looking for a fall date idea that includes laughter, creativity, and snacks – this is for you!
Carving pumpkins brings us back to our childhood inevitably awakening memories of long ago Halloweens. Share the stories of your best Halloween costumes ever. Talk about your hometowns and the haunted houses and urban legends that taunted you during childhood. Just talk and carve and then roast those pumpkin seeds and finally take your plump and precious masterpieces out to the porch and light them together.
If you want to go all out, visit a farm and pick your pumpkins straight from the vine. And then, stop on your way home to grab a pumpkin spice latte. Leave the carving for the finale.
For something that includes pumpkin slime, this can be an exceptional fall date idea!
Bake or Make Something Seasonally Delicious
Don’t count this one out. Cooking together is way more fun than it may initially sound. Why not bake an apple pie or an apple crumble? If that sounds too complicated, make candy or caramel apples. Not into sweets, make a good chili or soup! If that too sounds beyond your culinary skills, get a simple brownie mix, and decorate it with frosting and orange and red sprinkles or Reese’s Pieces candies.
Cooking together is one of my favorite fall date ideas because after you cook together, you can eat together and all of the best dates include good food.
Go Get Pumpkin Spice Lattes
Forgot all the haters, pumpkin spice is easily a top fall flavor for obvious reasons. Visit a local coffee shop and grab yourselves a cup and then take it for a walk through a local park or a downtown and enjoy your day together with one sip after the next.
Take A Fall Hike Together
I know I go on and on about how fall is the best season for hiking, but that’s because it really is. You don’t need to do some super strenuous cliff-hugging hike (unless that’s your thing). A gentle hike through any forest is time well spent together.
You can check out how the trees are adorned in their finest. Maybe pack a picnic. Or try to collect a bouquet of the prettiest leaves. Just take in the fresh air and the autumn sky, and feel alive together. This fall date idea is a guaranteed win.
Hop-On A Hayride or Work Your Way Through A Corn Maze
Nighttime hayrides are my favorite, especially through haunted forests. But Mr. Wonderful prefers the corn mazes, especially the ones with trickier clues to get you through. If you time it right, you can enjoy both at your local farm during their Fall Festivals.
As a photographer, I adore a day trip just aimlessly driving the backroads or flipping a coin at every stop sign to see what gorgeous nooks and crannies reveal themselves. This type of adventure has led to the discovery of some of my very favorite Mom and Pop shops, diners, and parks.
What makes this a perfect fall date idea is that the world is ablaze with color this time of year. The view from your window can showcase the best of the season. Plus, you never know what you might find together.
Take A Ghost Tour or Visit A Haunted House
You don’t have to believe in such things to make this fall date idea one worth taking, but it helps to keep an open mind. Think of it, the darkness of a nighttime walk, spooky storytelling, historic settings as you move from one location to the next.
Scary Movie Night
Whatever level of scary suits you and yours, a stay at home movie date night can be done well. You’ll need snacks – maybe a popcorn bar is in order, maybe order some of that actual movie sized boxed candy, make sure you have plenty of drinks on hand.
Don’t waste your night scrolling through the options. If you can’t decide what to watch – this collection of Halloween movies is sure to have something that suits you.
Visit A Winery Together
Our local winery offers brick oven pizza cooked and served outdoors and wine tastings all in one go. Fall is the perfect time of year to visit because the views are stunning and the scorching heat has abated. Check out what your local winery is offering for fall date ideas!
There you have them! I hope you have been inspired to make at least a few of these happen. Dating is so important to a healthy relationship! Making time for experiences like these should be among our top priorities.
Which dates are you going on? Do you have a great fall date idea I didn’t include? Please feel welcome to share your thoughts and suggestions in the comments section below. I love to hear from you!
