Research shows reading can reduce stress by up to 68%! 68%!!!! By now, I am confident that you can see why adding a little reading to your day can change your life for the better! You can be smarter, less stressed out, mentally age more gracefully, and improve your ability to interact with the rest of the world. I think you will be pleasantly surprised to learn that after just six minutes of reading your body and mind are already positively responding.
Buy Some Houseplants And Make Your House A Positive Place
Basic Science has taught us all that plants reduce carbon dioxide levels, certain pollutants, and air born dust levels! Those are awesome reasons to fill your house with a bunch of houseplants! But did you know that houseplants can also do cool things like make you feel better? Yeah, hospital patients with plants in their rooms were more positive and had lower blood pressure and stress levels. Houseplants can also reduce mental fatigue!

- A study at The Royal College of Agriculture in Circencester, England, found that students demonstrate 70 percent greater attentiveness when they’re taught in rooms containing plants. In the same study, attendance was also higher for lectures given in classrooms with plants.
- The Dutch Product Board for Horticulture commissioned a workplace study that discovered that adding plants to office settings decreases fatigue, colds, headaches, coughs, sore throats and flu-like symptoms. In another study by the Agricultural University of Norway, sickness rates fell by more than 60 percent in offices with plants.
- Studies at the Agricultural University of Norway document that using plants in interior spaces decreases the incidence of dry skin, colds, sore throats and dry coughs.

The NASA studies on indoor pollution done back in 1989 recommended 15 to 18 plants in 6 to 8-inch- diameter containers to clean the air in an average 1,800 square foot house. That’s roughly one plant per 100 square feet of floor space.

Music is ridiculously good for you! Some would say, music is the key to good health. We all have experienced the rush of feel-good chemicals released with the notes of our favorite songs. It is proven that music can improve your mood and lift your spirits. But what else is it capable of offering you in way of improving your everyday life?

Don’t skip over this one! Volunteering may seem like a thankless way to spend your time. No paycheck. No monetary reward in exchange for your time. But I am here to tell you that there is nothing you can do that will improve the quality of your own life more than improving the quality of someone else’s life. And you are needed. The world has moved away from the idea that we are here to take care of one another but that doesn’t change the truth. The truth is that we are meant to love and care for one another and there is true peace and contentment when we take the time to reach out and love our purpose.

Did you know that at least half of Americans pray every day? I am one of them. Ours is a whole family that prays. We pray together and we pray individually. The benefits far exceed just those we experience physically. For the purposes of this post, we will go ahead stick to the Science.

Lunch break, the drive to or from work, while you’re taking your shower and getting ready? The time is there. Stop by your local greenhouse and stock up on some house plants. And then swing by the YMCA or the Animal Shelter and offer them some of your time. They will be grateful for even thirty minutes if that is all you are comfortable starting with. I speak from experience here. Finally, say your daily prayers. Start living a better life today! Take care of yourself, mind – body – and spirit. It takes so little to make such a big difference!
