A unique educational opportunity for home-schooled children is available in Kingsport, Tennessee. Kingsport Christian Academy (KCA), hires Christian educators to teach individual subjects several days a week. Parents then homeschool on alternate days.
One of the most substantial benefits of KCA is its flexibility. A child may take a single class in which his parents feel inadequate as a teacher (i.e. Advanced Physics). Or, he may take multiple classes. Each year KCA offers more classes and as children get older this will allow for a gradual transition toward independence.
KCA is a wonderful resource for parents who are trying to teach multiple grade levels simultaneously. Furthermore, the high quality of education provided by KCA assists many parents in homeschooling through the upper grades.

All Homeschool activities will be held near the Antler Hill Farm area.
We love attending their Homeschool Days events. They take you all over Biltmore and their learning opportunities around every corner. We toured the mansion, toured the grounds, visited the solar panel fields, spoke with wildlife experts, and so much more during our last visit. Last year tickets were just $23 each! When I went back to see the Christmas trees without the visit it was over $70 so this is a great deal!

Homeschooling is a lot of wonderful things! It’s a blessing, a gift, a full-time job, a sacrifice, a journey, and adventure and on and on and on. It can also be a financial challenge. Most, though not all, homeschooling families are operating off a single income. The costs of the curriculum can be high. In an effort to ease the load, I have put together a list of Homeschool Discounts to help homeschooling families stretch every dollar. Check out this list of Homeschooling Deals and Discounts.
I didn’t begin this homeschooling journey on purpose. I never intended it. It was just one of those unexpected blessings that came out of the love for my son and my desire to see that he had the best chance at a bright future, confidence, and a genuine love for learning. But, that’s a different post. For today, I want to share with you my top ten reasons to homeschool because a lot of people wonder why I homeschool and a lot of people are interested in homeschooling for their families. I didn’t have a lot of guidance going in but after five years of homeschooling, I have learned to love this experience for so many reasons. Here are my top ten.
The story of us and our homeschooling journey, brief and to the point. This is for everyone who asks, why do you do it, Gwen? This is our honest journey. I have nothing against public school. I thrived at my own. My son did not. Here is how it went.
