Homeschool Recess Rocks
One of the best parts of homeschooling is that school can be anywhere and so can recess. We try to get out for recess every day. It’s a nice break and we have found some of the greatest places we would not have known about had we kept T in public school. Homeschooling encourages the explorer in all of us. We always try to walk or ride our bikes (weather permitting) during our hour-long recess. Yesterday we made our way to the trails at Sycamore Shoals and hiked a mile. The weather was 83 degrees but next to the water it was perfect. The sky was clear. The squirrels were feisty. We had a blast.
We broke in T’s new Nike’s. This is his first pair of sneakers that weren’t Converse in years.
We hiked the trails and sat by the water. We thought about the History that surrounded us as we read all the signs and markers.
We admired everything that was turning green and coming back to life. We laughed at the squirrels and then we went and got some lunch.
I am always grateful for the opportunity to teach T and spend time together, but these warm Spring days so full of promise make me appreciate these moments even more.
