How To Make Beautiful Bookmarks
Make Your Own Bookmarks Today
After five years of Homeschool Art Class, we have a lot of paintings and lovely ink drawings hanging around. This past year we decided to make our Art Projects more useful to us. And so began the trips to the Into The Fire where we make things like coffee mugs and measuring cups. We also have made bird feeders and coasters and several other projects that we can use in the real world. We still like to paint on paper and canvas a few times a month but we have become much more interested in creating useful art.
Hence, this last Art Project where we made a whole bunch of bookmarks. T and I noticed last week that we were mostly using index cards for holding our places. We knew we could do better than that.T is in eighth grade this year and his curriculum is significant. We decided we would like to make about ten of these bookmarks throughout the next week. Yesterday, we got started and you can make bookmarks too! It’s simple and fun. Here’s how to make your own bookmarks.
What You Will Need to Make Bookmarks:
- 100-pound cardstock
- A Printer
- A few of the following:
- Colored Pencils
- Inkjoy Pens
Where to Get Free Bookmark Templates:
We found several free templates online but we narrowed it down to our favorites.
We had a great time putting these together. T used paint and markers on the ones he colored and I chose to use colored pencils and the ink joy pens on the ones I did. At the end of our Art Class, we had three completed and two more almost finished and we had fun. We will work on finishing those in the coming days.
We also went ahead and printed these which were already colored for us because they are lovely and you can only color so many bookmarks.
We hope you enjoy making your own bookmarks as much as we did! Come back and see what we find for next weeks Art Project. A hint… it will be Valentine’s related but something your teenager won’t find cliche.
