Minor Myers inspired students, colleagues and readers throughout his life and ever after.
Go into the world and do well. But more importantly, go into the world and do good.
This week we are focusing on what is really important. I love this quote from Minor Myers, who was an incredible teacher and author with a deep and thorough love for learning. His students were often placed on waiting lists to get into his classes. Can you imagine? He was that good! His classes changed lives. They changed people. He encouraged each student to find their passion and go from there. He was truly an inspiration. You can learn more about him here.
President of Illinois Wesleyan U. When students came to Minor Myers Jr., for advice, he’d tell them just one thing–to find their passions. “My husband would ask them, `What makes your heart sing? Forget the practical–that will come. Find something that will make your heart sing, and the rest will fall into place,'” said his wife, Ellen.
As we focus on this all week we will be discussing how we can go into the world and do well. We will discuss how we might live well. I love. Love, LOVE, this list of 10 Timeless Lessons from a Life Well Lived, by Marc Chernoff, and we will be covering it as we go through the week!
About a year ago we published an article entitled, 18 Things My Dad Was Right About. The article contained a list of life lessons my dad had shared with me when I was a kid. Today, as promised, my dad emailed me an addendum to his original list.
We will also be discussing how we can go into the world and do good. Then we will be following up by going out into the world and doing some good. For inspiration, we will cover these ideas from Random Acts of Kindness. I will let T select a few and off we will go.
Treat Someone To Fresh Fruit Most people don’t eat enough fruit, which is a great natural energy source full of vitamins, minerals and fiber. But who can pass up such a delicious and healthy food treat? It’s good for your body and your soul!
I can hardly wait to get started! Here is to wishing everyone a week full of peace, inspiration, and hope in action. Be blessed!
