Education Quotes for Teachers and Students
Three of my favorite teacher/learning quotes from this week.
I love a great quote and these three are my top choices for this week! As a homeschooling Mom, these all ring especially true.
An educational system isn’t worth a great deal if it teaches young people how to make a living but doesn’t teach them how to make a life.
This education quote really encompasses all of my top reasons for choosing a homeschooling life. In our homeschool, we teach character development and faith. We also teach life skills, such as extensive cooking classes, lessons on how to maintain a budget, how to do the maintenance and upkeep on a home, how to serve your community, and we learn about how to take care of our mental health. These are essential courses that a good education does not neglect.
The world is your school. ~Martin H. Fischer
This education quote says it all. One of the very biggest perks of homeschooling is that so much of it happens out in the real world. We are so blessed to be able to visit all of our favorite educational places like the zoo, our local museums, our local art galleries, local theaters, even the fish hatchery, and the department of parks and recreation, the planetarium, and so many more wonderful places during the hours when they are the least crowded. We get so much one on one attention. We go where the experts are and learn from people who are truly passionate about the subjects we are learning.
We could never have loved the earth so well if we had had no childhood in it. ~George Eliot, The Mill on the Floss, 1860
Enjoying your childhood while exploring the world is the very best way to learn. We can learn a lot from a book but it will never compare to the hands-on real-life experiences we can offer a child who is homeschooling. Homeschooling also encourages every child to ask a lot of questions. They are not so much fed answers to remember as encourages to ask the questions they are wondering. Wonder is at the heart of a great education!

Homeschooling is a lot of wonderful things! It’s a blessing, a gift, a full-time job, a sacrifice, a journey, and adventure and on and on and on. It can also be a financial challenge. Most, though not all, homeschooling families are operating off a single income. The costs of the curriculum can be high. In an effort to ease the load, I have put together a list of Homeschool Discounts to help homeschooling families stretch every dollar. Check out this list of Homeschooling Deals and Discounts.
Teacher appreciation quotes are often just the thing we need to complete that end of the year thank you card. We all have had a teacher that has really had an impact on us. Sometimes, it’s hard to find the right words to express that level of gratitude. In honor of the end of the year, I have gathered this collection of teacher appreciation sayings for you to share with your favorite teachers.
When I first began homeschooling, I dove in as a complete newbie. I was not raised in a homeschooling family. In fact, I thrived in public school. I did not have any close friends or even distant family members who homeschooled. I had never taught a single class much less every single subject. I was in all ways an accidental homeschool Mom. I came into this crazy homeschool life, completely unprepared and terrified of messing up the most important undertaking of my life, responsibility for my son’s education. If I could go back and tell myself just five things in those first tentative months of homeschooling, this is what I would say.
