I have been working on a new student planner for the kids. As I was designing I wanted to include things that I hoped would inspire each child and teen to make the most out of their time. As I created monthly overviews I looked for seasonal quotes that beautifully captured what the month means at its best. Below you will find my whole collection, an inspirational quote for each month of the year.

These may be just the thing for you to add to your whiteboard or set a monthly theme for your class with. They would also make a great start for some journaling prompts. (Find a full collection of journaling prompts here.) Ok, let’s look at these seasonal quotes together.
Seasonal Quotes by Month of the Year
January – Inspirational Quote
With the new year just rolling around, we find ourselves optimistic and excited for another go. I chose this quote from Melody Beattie because I think it holds a lovely visual of the way the new year feels.

February – Love Quote
February is when we take the time to focus on the one we love. This is so important for a marriage. That focus is followed by action as we seek to find ways to express how deeply we feel. It’s so beautiful. I have several true love quotes that you can find here – Best Love Quotes and Sayings for Valentine’s Day. For the sake of the student planner, I chose a quote that expresses what love means to all of us regardless of our age.
“The best thing to hold onto in life is each other”.Audrey Hepburn
March and The Welcoming of Spring
March is when new life starts peeping out of dark places. There is such cheer in seeing a tender sprout shooting from the earth, reaching for the sun, and awaiting its summer dress. T and I like to go hunting for signs of Spring. I actually have a fun Spring Scavenger Hunt if you want to follow suit. I think this season quote by Emerson paints a beautiful picture of spring.
April Showers Bring May Flowers
April feels like true spring to me. I love the mixture of bright sunshine followed by heavy rainfall. I’m not sure which I prefer more. The sound of the rain patting on the roof while you sit tucked in a light blanket, the weight of a book in your hand. Or the sun kissing your cheek as you walk barefoot through the first tender blades of new grass soft as clouds beneath you.
For the sake of the student planner, I decided to include a seasonal quote from Epicurus which reminds us that the harder parts of life are often what lead to our greatest strength and most valued knowledge.
“Skillful pilots gain their reputation from storms and tempest.”– Epicurus
May – Summer is in the air!
While summer does not officially start until June, May is full of hints and expectations of the season to come. That is why I chose this quote from Charles Bowden.
June – Summer at its best!
It’s officially summer but the thickest heat has yet to arrive. Early summer is so sweet and best spent on the porch with lemonade or on the hiking trails among the rhododendron, or splashing in the lake awash in laughter. I have had a favorite quote about June ever since I first heard it. For this and more check out this post – Inspirational Summer Life Quotes.
“It was June, and the world smelled of roses. The sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside.”– Maud Hart Lovelace
July- The celebration of summer!
Camping trips, BBQs, fireworks, and more! July is the height of summer. We all sense its end approaching and grab every chance to savor it! I love the July night best, all studded with fireflies. The warmth in the night air holds back the darkness.
August – End of Summer Quote
August represents the passing of summer into fall. It’s often bittersweet. I think the secret to soothing the sting is to keep a grateful heart, overflowing with gratitude for all the sweet gifts of summer we were able to claim. This quote from Celia Thaxter says that best.
“There shall be eternal summer in the grateful heart.”Celia Thaxter
September – Hiking Season Starts
For our family, September is the start of the hiking season here in Tennessee. The sweltering weather is tamed by cooler days and the thick air turns crisp and clear. We can’t get enough of it. So I think this quote from Nathaniel Hawthorne wraps up the essence of September best.
October – Arguably The Most Beautiful Month of the Year
If I could choose only a single season to last all year long, it would be autumn. I love the colors, the tastes, the sights, and the smells of autumn above all others. So I choose this quote from Albert Camus because it captures the beauty and the excitement of this season perfectly.
“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.”– Albert Camus

November – The Season of Thanksgiving
The season of gratitude! I love November because it encourages every one of us to count our blessings, search for beauty, and to recognize the gifts of life and family. My favorite quote about gratitude is from Mary Davis.
I have gathered a rather large collection of quotes and scriptures about gratitude if you would like to check them out here – Quotes and Scripture About Gratitude.
December – The Christmas Season
As a Christian, the Christmas season represents the greatest gift ever given to humanity to me. I also love how at this time of year, everyone gives to one another with such joy. The best of us is brought forward as we seek to share love, gather, and celebrate together. It is so hard to choose just one quote for December but I have decided on this one from Ruth Carter Stapleton.
“Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it most.”-Ruth Carter Stapleton
