Summer Contests for Kids

T loves contests. It doesn’t really matter what kind of contest it is but his favorites are definitely the photo contests. He’s good with a camera. T photographs things most of us don’t notice and he manages angles I may only consider mid-yoga class.

Here are some great contests you can have your kids enter too. It gives them something productive to do and win or lose, it’s all good fun.

The Mystery Build Kit Contest: This one is too fun! You buy the kit which is on sale right now for $29.99 and it arrives with a bunch of stuff in it. You create and video yourself creating using only the things which you find in your kit. You submit by October 20th, 2014 and a part of 21000.00 worth of prizes could be yours. Check it out here.

Animal Rescue Kid’s Art Contest: T is a hardcore animal lover. For Christmas last year, he asked to save a Rhino and Tiger through the WWF. So this contest makes it easily onto our list. This one is monthly, you must be 16 or under and you can win an Animal Rescue Prize Pack. Simply have them draw a picture of their favorite animal and send it in.

Save The Frogs Art Contest: Next to History, T’s favorite subject is Earth Science. Here is a great contest to get your kids involved in saving the frogs and allow them to express their creative genius. It’s free to enter though you can include a few dollars for the cause with your entry and it’s fun. Deadline is October 14, 2014, and anyone can enter!

The President’s Challenge: This one is great. As a homeschool Mom, I have found meeting the requirements for Physical Education a little confusing. We learned archery, we hiked, we biked, we walked, ran, played ball and more but I didn’t really have a way to measure T’s progress. Enter this cool program. Kids do activities from the lists, earn points and eventually awards. The parent’s cost for the certificate, fifty cents. The super cool award just $3.00. I highly recommend signing up for this one.

National Geographic Funniest Pet Videos: We are the proud owners of two of the world’s funniest pets. India and Bratchy the cats. They constantly do hilarious things. The challenge here is to catch it on video. You must be between 6 and 14 years old to enter, it must be your pet and your video and you can win cool prizes like a fish tank and a $100 PetSmart gift card. This one ends soon, July 31st, 2014.

Ranger Rick’s Photo Contest: This one is fun and it runs all the time. Anyone 13 or under can enter. You just have your child take some great nature shots, size them as instructed and they can be published in the Ranger Rick Magazine.

Photobraniac: This one is free and fun too. T drags us to every car show around and he has hundreds of pics of cool cars and motorcycles. There are many topics to choose from but he likes to enter the Car and Bike Photo Contest the most. Check it out.

So there you have some to get you and your kids started. We would love to hear your suggestions for fun contests we have yet to discover so please share!
