All Of My Favorite Things About Christmas Collected In A Single Post
Christmastime is the best time of the year! The baking, the gifts, the giving, the shows, the symphony, the church service, the trees, the wreaths, the songs, the lights, the games, the gathering, the family, the food, the sharing, the joy. It’s all there, tucked into one brief season of love. I adore it all. I’ve written a lot over the years about all of my favorite parts of Christmas and today I decided to gather my favorite Christmasy posts into one single post. Here goes…

You can download and print this Dear Santa letter from my shop right now and sit down with your littles to really dig in to what they most want for Christmas, which is time with family, a Christmas tree, time spent gift wrapping or decorating Christmas cookies, as well as opportunities to spread the joy of Christmas by being kind and generous themselves and a gift or two. Enjoy and Merry Christmas!
This printable quote from the Christmas Carol is ready to be framed and displayed. You can see it in your mind, can’t you? Scrooge has survived the night and he is finally seeing clearly. Christmas morning has arrived in all if its brilliance. Scrooge rushes, giddy and overflowing with love and hope, straight to the house of Bob Cratchit and he is hauling a load of Christmas goodies. Once there he finds Bob’s family, including the sweetest of them all, precious Tiny Tim. The scene unfolds as the whole story of A Christmas Carol concludes, with the tenderest and most powerful words a Christmas story has ever uttered… “God bless us, everyone.” From the mouths of babes, Y’all. Yup. That’s Christmas. True Christmas.
Perhaps you have also noticed that the closer we get to Christmas, the harder it is to stay focused on lesson plans. I’ve noticed. I’ve actually noticed it for five years in a row now. The exact length of time I have been a homeschool Mom. Hence, the Christmas fun pack. I designed this Christmas Fun Packet with the idea that sometimes we just need to have a little
freedomspace and in order to do that, we have to keep the kids busy. And to really find ourselves a few minutes of time to get our stuff done, they need genuinely fun stuff to do. Non – lesson – planny fun stuff to do. And so, let me introduce you, sheet by sheet, to your five or ten or maybe even twenty minutes of Homeschool Mom Freedom... Hmm Hmm, I mean, Christmas fun for your kids!
Every year at Christmas we share cookies with friends and family and the local fire department. Today on the way to indoor soccer, T and I started talking about what kind of cookies we wanted to make this year. Finally, we decided to do something a little different, and share our love of international cooking with our love of cookies. So I present to you the fruits of our search for Cookie Recipes From Around The World!
This year we chose four of our favorite cookie recipes to share with friends and family. These four cookie recipes are the best of the best! You can make and enjoy them all year long but these are the ones our family expects every Christmas. Time to get baking!
Christmas Crafts and DIY
Three Beautiful Printable Christmas Cards For Kids to Complete! One of my favorite handmade Christmas crafts is a card that T drew for us one year of our family next to a Christmas tree. It’s so sweet and one of those treasures that I will keep for always. I was thinking about that this morning and quickly got to work designing three Christmas cards for kids!
How To Make A Christmas Delivery Gratitude Basket! Say a simple thank you to those delivering Christmas. Merry Christmas, everyone! Our family has a lot of Christmas traditions and one of our favorites is the Gratitude Basket we make every year to thank our delivery drivers for delivering us Christmas! Find out how we put it together and print a beautiful, festive thank you note to include.
On a recent trip to Dollar Tree, I took some time to look closely at all the Christmas ornaments and craft supplies they had displayed. There were all kinds of adorable little snowmen ornaments, and mitten ornaments, as well as angels adorned in glitter, and fun Christmas pompom’s. They had mini Christmas Trees wrapped in garland, and Santa figurines, and so much more. I started to get excited about decorating the house for Christmas. I then started to think about Christmas crafts kids could create.
Christmas Trips Worth Taking
It snowed! We woke up this morning to big chunky snowflakes drifting softly down from the heavens. The trees were each wrapped in a glistening white blanket, looking their finest. Each surface of the world was glittering with ice crystals and looked absolutely magical. And every last blade of browned grass was buried beneath the softest, brightest cloud of white. Beautiful! It was a winter wonderland! In our house, an early snowfall means we can break our Thanksgiving night tradition and go ahead and put the tree up. Which got me thinking about Christmas at Biltmore House and their 55 Christmas trees!
Christmas Quotes and Sayings
Who doesn’t love a great snow globe quote or saying? I love snow globes! I always have. When I was a kid my Mom had a beautiful collection of snowglobes and they were my favorite of the Christmas decorations. Don’t me get wrong, I absolutely adore a Christmas tree. But those are all, look but don’t touch!
Not a snow globe though. A good snow globe invites you to give it a little shake and even rewards your effort with glistening snow. If it’s an extra awesome snow globe, you can also turn the little key underneath and it will sing to you. I love them, all glittery and sparkling. Also, I think my addiction to quotes may have first begun when I turned over a snow globe one day and read, “Kindness is like snow –it beautifies everything it covers.” These quotes and sayings are almost as lovely as the globe itself.
I love good quotes! A great quote can inspire, challenge, lift or warm you. When we write out Christmas cards, send letters to the troops, or fill out gift tags, I love to include a great Christmas quote. Here are my all-time favorite Christmas Quotes!
Christmas Books and Entertainment
Christmas Movies are kind of my thing. I confess to watching them all year long. Over the years I have become a bit of an expert on Christmas Movies, and I feel that all of that time and effort put into really exploring the topic should result in something grand. Something worth sharing with the world. And so here it is, My Great Big List of Christmas Movies Worth Watching! You are very welcome!
I love Christmas books and I have read a lot of them. In honor of the greatest Christmas Books out there I have created a collection I call, Bathrobes, Bells, & Bookmarks! This list includes my very favorite Christmas Stories. I hope you find your favorite among them. If you have a suggestion for a great Christmas book that I haven’t included, please let me know about it in the comments section below. Merry Christmas!
In our homeschool, we do a lot of creative writing and Christmas time is one of our favorite times to write about. T and I both really enjoy writing prompts. They offer something like a running start. We don’t have to wonder what character we want to create, where our setting should be, or what conflict to solve. We can dive right in. Don’t get me wrong, those writing challenges are welcomed on most days but sometimes you just want to write right now. And the Christmas season is already very busy! The solution? These roll a story Christmas themed writing prompt games.
This Printable Christmas Pictionary Game is a blast! We use a whiteboard because as homeschoolers, we have an abundance. You could also use a large pad of art paper. Simply print off the list below. Cut each one out. Put in a hat or a Christmas Stocking. Everyone has 60 seconds to draw and receive guesses. Each correct answer is worth 1 point. Remember, if the picture card says two words, those two words must be spoken exactly for the point. The one with the most points wins a prize.
This one is SO fun. The Christmas Name Game is perfect for your Christmas gatherings! You just print out these out. Included are fourteen names of several Christmas characters. Stand everyone in a line and have them turn around. Tape one to each person’s back. Let everyone mingle seeing who each other is. This will get everyone laughing! No clues can be given yet, though. Starting with the oldest set a timer for two minutes and allow them to ask as many yes or no questions as possible. Write down how long it took before each player solved their character. The fastest solver wins a prize.
Christmas Kindness and Giving
The easiest and longest-lasting gift you can present is a kindness. People always remember kindness. It lifts them up in a way nothing else can. Christmas-Time is all about lifting each other up with love. It is about giving with grace and putting others ahead of ourselves. It’s about celebrating our blessings. It is about shining light into all the dark places we can reach. It is about sharing joy. It is beautiful. If ever there was a season for Kindness, then we are in it now. Check out this list of simple ways you can show Christmas Kindness this year!

The Christmas Eve GiftIs A Tradition Worth Starting! Every year the Christmas pajamas get a little bigger. Over the last twelve years, they have gotten a lot bigger. This is a tradition that has always been big in our household. There is so much magic and anticipation on Christmas Eve. All the waiting has come down to this. One final night together in front of the tree surrounded by gifts, dreaming about what lies within those packages. We can’t wait to see the expressions on each other’s faces when they open the ones from us.
I hope you feel inspired to enjoy the most wonderful time of the year in all the ways that matter the most to you and your family.
