Every month as we plan our schedule, we gather the best events in the Tri-Cities and share them with you! As a homeschooling family we are especially interested in anything educational but as long as it is family-friendly fun we are game! Check out this months collection of outstanding family-friendly events you and your family can enjoy!
Friday – June 2nd through Saturday – June 10th, 2017
The Bristol Fair is offering more than 30 carnival rides from sprout to spectacular, there is plenty of fun to be had by all ages! Make memories that will last a lifetime when you take part in the free entertainment by the chilling West Texas Rattlesnake Show, the fabulous petting zoo featuring over 200 friendly animals, or The Aguiar Family Circus & Thrill Show featuring FOUR motorcycles in The Globe of Death!
Sycamore Shoals 27th Annual Native American Festival
Saturday – June 3rd, 2017 through Sunday – June 4th, 2017
A two-day celebration of our Native American heritage! Award-winning dancers, storytellers, artists, and scholars gather at the circle to share knowledge and demonstrate their skills. Come and discover Native American arts, music, and legends, with an emphasis on the Cherokee culture. Admission Charge. See the schedule here.
National Hikes Day
Saturday – June 3rd, 2017
Since 1993, the American Hiking Society has set aside the first Saturday in June as National Trails Day, bringing together outdoor enthusiasts to participate in educational exhibits, trail dedications, gear demonstrations, instructional workshops and trail projects.
Rhododendron Festival in Roan Mountain
Saturday – June 17th and Sunday – June 18th, 2017
The Rhododendron Festival is a long-standing tradition that hails the blooming of the world-famous Rhododendron Gardens atop Roan Mountain. Come celebrate the 71st Annual Roan Mountain Rhododendron Festival presented by the Roan Mountain Citizens Club. Over 100 vendors including hand-made arts and crafts, musical entertainment featuring local musicians, and a variety of festival foods to complete your weekend of rhododendron viewing and mountain adventures. The festival is free of charge to all guests. Also vendors take cash only, no credit cards.
Fossil and Artifact ID Night at Gray Fossil Site
Tuesday – June 27th, 2017
You don’t have to be a paleontologist to find fossils. Identifying them is a different story. Bring any kind of rock, fossil, artifact, or mineral to Fossil & Artifact ID Night, and scientists at the museum will provide space for the study of these finds. There will be an archaeologist, paleontologist, and geologist on site. The event is free and open to the public but does not include admission to exhibits.
Starting Friday – June 30th though July 2nd, 2017
Take part in Historic Jonesborough’s story through its patriotic celebration featuring live music, storytelling, a parade, fireworks, children’s entertainment, craft vendors, games, food and much more.
